When Chris and I made the move from Georgia to Colorado, we promised ourselves that we would really explore the west. So, in early August we planned a whirlwind trip where we flew into Portland, drove to Seattle, and then Flew back to Denver, all in a three day weekend. Yes, we are young and overly ambitious. Our motto, "Who needs sleep?!"
During our time in Portland, I insisted that we visit the International Rose Test Garden. For those readers unfamiliar with the garden, it was formed in 1921 during WWI, when it was set up in hopes of protecting European rose species. It has now grown to a massive garden, hosting over 550 species of roses.
As I entered the garden, with my camera ready, I became lost in this enchanting and gorgeous venue. Guest at the garden can easily wander the many rows of beautiful flowers for hours, taking in the aroma and unparalleled colors on each bud. I think that time stopped for me in that garden. I let myself drift off, into another world, where I was royalty. The feeling of beauty, peace, and prestige that surrounded me as I meandered the garden is exactly what any bride is looking for in a "perfect" garden wedding!
I highly recommend the International Rose Test Garden for an unforgettable wedding! For further information on holding a wedding in the gardens, please see their website.
